The mention of high heels automatically creates an image of sky-high heels and runway models strutting their stuff down a long, illuminated runway, but that isn’t the case. In fact, in recent years high heels have become increasingly popular among women of all ages, especially in the business world. While the size and thinness of the heel obviously change between different age groups, the perception of high heels is pretty much unanimous – high heels make women feel sexy. The reasons why are more complicated than one would imagine because there is very little tangible evidence. Sure, high heels have some positive effects on one’s appearance, but it is more than that. The effects high heels have on a women’s self confidence is deeper than that.
Great Legs
Perhaps it’s the way the shape of the leg changes when a gorgeous pair of heels is attached, or perhaps it’s the way the heels alter one’s walk by adding a seductive and alluring element. Every woman has their own reasons as to why she loves her heels, but it is difficult to argue against the fantastic effects heels have on a woman’s confidence and overall appearance.
Empowerment
Some fashion magazines claim that heels are sexy because they empower women. They allow women to feel taller and bolder, which emboldens them to break out of their shell and take control. While this may be a little too much to expect from pieces of leather sewn together, there is some truth to it. Women who feel short often times feel small and weak, which inadvertently affects how they carry themselves. High heels can change all of this and make small women feel taller and more powerful. Taller women can also benefit from high heels because it helps to elongate their legs. Tall women who feel comfortable enough with their height to wear high heels often enjoy a sense of superiority to those standing below them. Long, sexy legs are no long something to be ashamed of, but rather are commonly associated with models and celebrities.
Strength and Tone
High heels also have great effects on the body. They can help to tone and sculpt leg muscles that are rarely worked otherwise, and can cause some serious shaping in the backside. Because of the way the heels alter the angle of the body, women look curvy and sexy, which only helps to further boost the way they feel.
Comfort
Heels don’t have to be an uncomfortable accessory. In fact, there are a number of brands out there that produce high heels that are just as comfortable to walk in as flats and just as sexy to wear as any other pair of stilettos on the market. Once women find the right style of heel for them, there is no stopping the way it can boost their self-esteem.
Fashion and feeling great about oneself is all in the mind. Women have to feel great in order to look great, and in order to look great, they need to feel great. It’s a vicious cycle, but one that high heels can easily break. How often does a man tell a woman she looks amazing in her running shoes? But ask a man what he thinks about a woman in a pair of high heels and it becomes easier to understand one of the reasons that drive women’s desire for high heels.

Salvatore Ferragamo was an Italian shoe designer and became well known in the 1920s when he worked with many of the celebrities in Hollywood. Many film stars and celebrities around the world are still loyal to his company, which has evolved into a luxury goods empire spanning around the world.
Salvatore Ferragamo studied shoe making in Naples for a year then Ferragamo opened a small store in his parent’s home. In 1914, he emigrated to America, to live with one his brothers, a cowboy boot factory worker. Ferragamo worked briefly with his brother at the factory, then moved to California. It was there that Ferragamo found success, initially opening a shop for repair and made-to-measure shoes. However, his reputation as ‘Shoemaker to the Stars’ only partially satisfied him. He could not fathom why his shoes pleased the eye yet hurt the foot, so he proceeded to study anatomy at the University of Southern California.
Ferragamo returned to Italy in 1927, after spending thirteen years in the United States. He settled in Florence and began to design shoes for the wealthiest and most powerful women of the century. Some of the famous women who wore his shoes were Eva Peron and Marilyn Monroe; were all loyal to Ferragamo. In 1929, he opened a workshop in the Via Mannelli, concentrating his efforts on applying for patents for ornamental and utility models and some related inventions. The business stumbled out of the 20’s and Ferragamo filed for bankruptcy in 1933 due to bad management and economic pressures. Ferragamo, nonetheless recovered, and expanded his operation during the 1950’s to a workforce of over 700 expert artisans that produced 350 pairs of hand-made shoes a day.
Salvatore Ferragamo died in 1960 at the age of 62, but his name lives on as an international company, which has expanded its operations to include luxury shoes, bags, eye wear, silk accessories, watches, perfumes and a ready-to-wear clothing line.

I absolutely love the Bourne Sasha Sandal in gold. It comes in black, silver and gold. This shoe really has a lot of flashy jewelry making it the perfect sandal to pair with a tight pair of leggings, or colorful summer printed dress. Gold or silver work as neutrals allowing you to pair them with any color or texture. This sandal was designed with some cut outs on the side allowing a glimpse of the curvature of your foot. This shoe is certainly a hot number.
